
British artist Anish Kapoor’s giant sculpture ‘Leviathan’ has been unveiled in Paris’ Grand Palais ahead of an exhibition which opens next Wednesday.

British artist Paul Graham presents vivid portrayals of people and places. The Whitechapel gallery will show over 25 years of work demonstrating his innovative approach to documentary, reinventing traditional genres of photography to create a unique visual language.
Seventeen photographs from the series can be seen in the Whitechapel Gallery’s new retrospective of Graham’s work.

Jean-Antoine Watteau’s (1684 – 1721) first major retrospective exhibition of drawings to be held at the Royal Academy will show over 80 works on paper produced by the French artist.

Paul Gaugins clogs with images of Breton, geese and women, signed on one shoe are considered by many as works of art and made a record sale of £207,000.
It is said that Gauguin was inspired by the culture and landscape of Brittany, and wore these clogs, even in Paris. Carved with images of Breton women and geese, and signed on one shoe, the clogs are clearly considered works of art.

As an outspoken critic of the Chinese government Weiewei has not been heard from since he was arrested at Beijing airport on April 3.
“Barbaric” was the way Kapoor described China’s actions and said that “the failure of the international community to do more than voice concern was ridiculous”.
Turner Prize-winner Kapoor called for the art world to “come together” and do more to campaign for Ai’s release.
On BBC Radio 4’s Today programme Kapoor said: “As artists we have a communal voice and it’s important that we stick together.
He is said by family and friends to being targeted for his repeated assaults on what he calls China’s “totalitarian” one–party State.
The Tate Modern has just finished showing his work Sunflower Seeds and although the artist is still detained two major exhibitions of Ai’s’ work will open in London this week, one at Somerset House and one at The Lisson Gallery.
